Spam Reduction: Make your email address as scarce as possible.

1 Do not post your real email address to newsgroups. Spambots regularly sift through posts at newsgroups looking to harvest email addresses.
2. Get in the habit of editing mail you are forwarding to remove the email addresses of others that the email was sent to.
3. Get your friends to get in this habit as well. There is nothing better for a spammer than to get a hold of an email where he can harvest lots of email addresses to sell and use.
4. When you make a group in your address book, check the box that says the addresses won't show up in your email. If you don't know how to make a group in your address book, check out the help section on your computer.
5. Get a second email address to use for signing up for things. Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, GMail, and Netscape Mail are all free. Guard your main email by only using it for business or close associates friends and family.
